The Priests House

Barden Tower, a Grade 1 listed building with superb views of the valley and surrounding hills from every angle, is a unique North Yorkshire venue, in Skipton not far from Harrogate.

House and the Chapel are steeped in history and charm. The House retains many of its original features, the Chapel has been recently renovated with its large windows and chandeliers.

It was my first time here at this stunning venue tucked away in the Yorkshire hills and what a brilliant day!

Thank you to the team at Barden Tower for running the day and thanks to Jack & Sophie for having me as their photographer!

The Wedding

I started the day at The Priests House waiting for everyone to arrive, today was about capturing the wedding day from the ceremony to late, so no preparation coverage.

The Couple

Jack & Sophie, met in high school, Sophie is a marketing executive and Jack is a Police Officer in South Yorkshire. They have a giant red lab called Cassian, a black cat called Nova, and a goldfish called sam. Jack is a Notts boy and was born in Worksop and I'm from Barnsley. During the first lockdown, they took Cas to Robin Hood's Bay for his first trip to the beach and Jack popped the question there in a quiet corner. They originally planned on Cyprus but due to covid they had to cancel, "we still wanted a laid-back feel and managed to find Priests House hidden in the Yorkshire dales. The scenery is very beautiful and atmospheric, combining that with the evening package meant we could still have a relaxed yet romantic feel."

I asked them how they found me.

"Complained to my colleague Beth how hard it was finding a photographer whose style fitted the theme, and she recommended you :) "

Their theme is "combining spring with a romantic evening, colours are like a summer berry mix; Soft pinks, a little peach with a touch of Burgandy and Fushia. Bridesmaid dresses and ties are like a rhubarb colour"

I asked them could you give 1 or more pieces of advice/tips for others that are planning their wedding.

"Identify your priorities early on, sometimes we have found ourselves (read Sophie) stressing over the smallest details, but honestly, the most important things are having a registrar, guests and your significant other."

Here is a small collection from their amazing wedding day at The Priests House, Skipton, North Yorkshire.

The Priest House

Barden Tower, a Grade 1 listed building with superb views of the valley and surrounding hills, The Priests House has an excellent reputation when it comes to food and service.

Both the House and the Chapel are steeped in history and charm. The House retains many of its original features such as the dark oak beamed ceilings, paned windows and real log fires and the Chapel has been recently renovated with its large airy windows.

The Priest House was redecorated in 2018, it retains that genuine medieval ambience, this is a venue you have to see for yourself and definitely a venue to consider for any summer wedding.
