Sunshine & Smiles at Crathorne Hall – A Glorious North Yorkshire Wedding
OMG, Crathorne Hall really turned it on for this wedding — not just with its normal grand country house charm and sweeping views of the North Yorkshire countryside, but with wall-to-wall sunshine from start to finish. Yep, the kind of day you dream of when you’re planning a wedding in the UK.

I arrived that morning to a buzz of excitement — Ellen and her girls were tucked away in one of Crathorne’s light-filled suites, getting ready, all while the sunlight poured through the big windows. There’s just something about morning light in a place like this — soft, golden, and full of promise.
The ceremony took place in the Drawing Room, which is always such a beautiful space to shoot in. Big windows, tall ceilings, and all that classic elegance Crathorne Hall is known for. The Luke & Ellen said their vows in front of their closest friends and family and their VIP their daughter, with sunlight streaming in and filling the room with this warm, romantic glow — like nature itself was joining in the celebration.
Afterwards, everyone spilled out onto the terrace for drinks and canapés, sunglasses on, prosecco in hand. It was that perfect kind of afternoon where no one’s in a rush and the laughter flows as easily as the champagne. The grounds at Crathorne are incredible, so we made the most of it — we had walk with some relaxed couple portraits under the trees, and a few golden-hour photos later on that were chef’s kiss!
The speeches were full of heartfelt moments and stories, the kind that have you laughing one second and welling up the next. And when the sun dipped low in the sky, the party properly kicked off — dancing, more drinks, and just pure joy all around.
This wedding had everything I love — a stunning setting, an amazing couple who trusted me to just do my thing, and a day full of genuine, unfiltered moments. Crathorne Hall never disappoints, but with sunshine like this? It was on another level.
If you're planning a wedding at Crathorne Hall and want relaxed, storytelling photos that capture all the good stuff — I’d love to chat.
