A Lovely Day at Healey Barn with Amy and Dom

I am always happy when a wedding takes me back to Healey Barn. It is one of those places I photograph a few times a year and it never loses its charm. This year I ended up here twice within a couple of weeks and Amy and Dom’s day was right in the middle of it all. A chilly one at times but dry for most of the day which is all you can ask for. It only really turned later on which meant no sparklers in the evening, but honestly everything else ran perfectly. I am in Northumberland a lot, so have a look at my Northumberland wedding photographer page for more venues.

The morning started at Slaley Hall where Amy was getting ready with her girls. It is only a short drive from Healey Barn and it always has a lovely calm atmosphere for morning prep. They were all so relaxed and the whole morning flowed really nicely. Dom and the guests were already at Healey Barn as everything else was happening there.

Because I photographed their engagement shoot earlier in the year, I already knew this was going to be a good one. They are such a kind and easy going couple and you can feel that energy from the moment you arrive. They trusted me completely and that always makes a huge difference to how the day feels.

After the ceremony we headed down to the woods behind the venue, which is one of my favourite spots around Healey Barn. The light filters through the trees in such a beautiful way and we got some gorgeous photos among the tall trees and forest colours. It is such a peaceful place and a nice little break for the two of them before heading back to the party.

One of their requests was a photo with every table. So after the speeches we put on a song and got everyone involved. Each table ran up to Amy and Dom’s table for a big group shot and it was absolute chaos in the best way. Lots of laughs, loads of energy and it worked perfectly. It is always fun when couples want something a little different and it made for some brilliant moments.

From start to finish the whole day had such a warm, happy feel to it. Amy and Dom are a lovely couple, their families were brilliant and Healey Barn once again proved why it is such a great venue to photograph. Even without sparklers, it was a beautiful day and I loved being part of it.
