Even when the weather decides to throw in some drama. Laura and Toby’s wedding day was one of those perfectly imperfect days: windy, cloudy, but absolutely packed with energy, laughter, and a whole lot of heart.

From the moment I arrived, it was clear this wasn’t going to be a sit-down-and-sip-your-champagne kind of wedding. Laura and Toby brought the party with them — and nothing, not even a blustery breeze, was going to slow it down.

Outside, guests were straight into it with games that would’ve made a sunny beach day jealous: surfing challenges (yes, you read that right — surfing, at a wedding, in Yorkshire!), clay pigeon shooting for the more competitive spirits, and the kind of laughter that just carries on the wind. There was even a 3D video booth, capturing hilarious clips that I’m sure will be treasured (and probably lightly blackmailed with) for years to come.

And then there was the ice cream. Endless, glorious amounts of it. I’m not exaggerating — it felt like the ice cream machine never closed. Kids, grown-ups, even a few sneaky vendors (not naming names!) — everyone was diving in. It just added to the whole “summer party” vibe Laura and Toby had clearly dreamed about, and honestly, it was a dream to photograph.

As day turned into evening, the clouds might have hung around, but the energy only built. The barn transformed into a buzzing dance floor, with a live band absolutely smashing it. There’s nothing quite like a live band at a wedding — the connection, the spontaneity — and these guys had everyone up and jumping, no coaxing required. Watching Laura and Toby tearing up the dance floor, surrounded by their favourite people, was the perfect end to a day that never stopped feeling like a celebration of pure joy.

Laura and Toby, you absolutely smashed it. Thank you for trusting me to capture all your madness, magic, and moments. Yorkshire Wedding Barn never disappoints — but it’s the two of you (and your brilliant, wild ideas) that made the day unforgettable.
