North Yorkshire Wedding Venues, From a Photographer Who's Been There
North Yorkshire is spoilt for wedding venues, from country estates and castles to rustic barns in the Dales. I'm a documentary wedding photographer based just up the road in Stockton on Tees, and I've photographed weddings all over the county. So instead of a generic list, these are ten North Yorkshire venues I've actually worked at, with my favourite spots for photos and links to real weddings at each one.

01. Middleton Lodge
Near Richmond, and a venue I know really well, with 10 weddings photographed here. The estate house has great space inside, any room works and the staircase is a favourite, while the front of the house is perfect when it's dry. At the Fig House, the vines and fig trees make a beautiful rainy day spot, and the walled garden is gorgeous in season.
02. Yorkshire Wedding Barn
Just outside Richmond, with 8 weddings photographed here over the last few years. I love the fields out the back and the lake. If it rains, there's a covered spot just outside the barn with perfect natural light, and the barn and the bar work brilliantly too.
03. Thirsk Lodge Barns
A relaxed barn venue near Thirsk, with golden hour in the fields and a lovely courtyard. See Olivia & Dan and Caoimhe & Hayden.
04. Crathorne Hall
A grand country house near Yarm, and a venue I know well. Have a look at Ellen & Luke and Natalie & Louis's Christmas wedding.
05. Sneaton Castle
Just outside Whitby on the coast. It only hosts one wedding a day, so the whole place feels like yours. For photos I love the chapel, the little corridors with beautiful window light, and reception.
06. Howard Court

07. Wharfedale Grange
A beautiful wedding barn in the Yorkshire countryside. Have a look at Alex & Rachel's wedding.
08. Pepper Arden Hall
A lovely country house near Northallerton, full of character inside and out.
09. Whinstone View
Also at Great Ayton, a lovely countryside venue.
10. Gisborough Hall
A grand hotel venue in Guisborough, with plenty of space for photos inside and out.
